Neil Etheridge began pre-match press conference duties at the Vale Resort on Thursday morning, previewing City’s Friday night clash with Norwich City.
The goalkeeper started by giving his take on the Bluebirds’ superb form and explaining what’s been behind their league-high record of nine clean sheets.
“We’ve got a strong dressing room and a strong Manager,” said Neil. “At the start of the season we knew what we were about and, as a team, we’re doing extremely well - so long may it continue.
“It’s a team effort, from whoever’s playing up top, all the way through to the midfield and myself - and I’ve got a great defence in front of me. A clean sheet is obviously part of a goalkeeper’s job, but we’re doing really well as a team to keep them.
“I knew that I had the ability on a personal level,” he continued, when asked about his form between the sticks. “Going from playing League One football to now playing in the Championship is a different ball game. But I’m finding my feet now and starting to feel really comfortable playing every game.”
Friday evening’s match against the Canaries falls on the Gaffer’s sixty-ninth birthday, and according to Neil, there are no secrets about what his perfect present would be.
“I think he’ll take the three points on the board,” laughed the ‘keeper. “That would be his best birthday present tomorrow!”
