A late Declan John stunner secured a draw at Harrow Borough for Cardiff City’s U23 side as they look ahead to another challenging season.
In what was a lively encounter at the Earlsmead Stadium, it was the Reds who struck first. Will Turl gave the hosts the lead as he expertly finished from a Curtis Ujah layoff on 27 minutes.
Jarred Harvey’s young side were unlucky not to draw the score level as former Boro man Ibrahim Meite had a dangerous header saved by the alert Melvin Minter.
Harrow extended their lead when Bajram Pashaj had a well-placed free kick reach the top corner of Ollie Byrne’s goal.
However, just before the interval, Mark Harris started the comeback for City when the Wales U21 international reduced the deficit to just one goal with a smartly taken finish.
Both teams continued to create chances in the second period of the game as the young Bluebirds increased their efforts in search of an equaliser.
In the final minute of the match, City won a free kick just outside Boro’s penalty area. Full-back Declan John stepped up and made no mistake as he superbly guided the ball into the top right corner.
