Nathaniel Mendez-Laing spoke post-match after pulling on the Bluebirds’ shirt for the first time in Friday evening’s opening pre-season victory over Taff’s Well.
Speaking to iFollow Cardiff City, the winger let us know how he’s bonded with the rest of the squad as City prepare to begin their pre-season tour of Cornwall - starting with Tavistock AFC on Monday evening.
“I’m enjoying every minute of it,” began the twenty-five year old. “The boys have been very welcoming. It’s a great place to settle into and all of the staff and coaches have helped me, so I’m really enjoying it.
“It is very early days, but when I sat down and had a chat with the Manager when I came, obviously promotion is the aim - whether that’s top two or play-offs. With the squad that we’ve got here, we’re more than capable of doing that.
“There’s no manager who’s got more promotions out of the Championship. The Gaffer knows what he’s doing. There's something about him that I feel I’ll thrive under and he works well with players like myself.”
Nathaniel went on to let City fans know what they can expect to see from him on the pitch, as he looks forward to lining up alongside his teammates for the remainder of pre-season and beyond.
“I’m a winger, but I can play in the hole as well,” he continued. “I’ve played across the front three quite a bit, so it's any of the three.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with [Kenneth Zohore]. He’s got great hold-up play and is really fast and strong, so I’m looking forward to that.”
