KIERAN RICHARDSON SIGNS CITY DEAL

Club News

Cardiff City FC is delighted to confirm the signing of former England international Kieran Richardson, subject to international clearance.

Kieran becomes Neil Warnock’s fourth Bluebirds signing, joining Junior Hoilett, Sol Bamba and Marouane Chamakh among the City ranks.

Having started his professional career with Manchester United in 2002, Kieran would move on to Sunderland in 2007 at the end of a successful five year stint at Old Trafford. In 2012 he joined Fulham, before a move to Aston Villa in 2014 which came to an end this past summer following the expiry of his contract at Villa Park.

Kieran joins the Bluebirds on a short-term deal and will wear the number 15 shirt.

Speaking exclusively to Cardiff City Player HD in an interview that you can watch in full as part of this Wednesday’s early edition of ‘In The City’, thirty-one year old Kieran said: “I spoke to the Gaffer who said the right things and I knew straight away I wanted to play for him.

“I looked at a few options after leaving Villa, but everything here fitted the bill. I’m honoured to play for a big club like Cardiff City and I can’t wait to get started now.”

First Team Manager Neil Warnock added: "Kieran is another experienced player who has committed to us until January - and as I see it that is a no lose situation.

"He's a quality player, established at top level and can contribute towards us moving up the table."
