Bluebirds CEO, Ken Choo, explains pro-active Season Ticket strategy...
Following the launch of our 2016/17 Season Ticket prices and benefits on Monday (click here), Cardiff City Football Club CEO, Ken Choo, has spoken of the thinking behind the bold, supporter-focussed launch.
Speaking exclusively to cardiffcityfc.co.uk this morning, Ken said: “In line with Tan Sri Vincent’s vision for the Football Club, as set out during his recent visit to Cardiff, decisions were made in recent months to ensure that 2016/17 season tickets were financially accessible to as many supporters as possible in order for them to come and support their local team.
“Naturally, we wanted to ensure that there was a reduction in prices. Secondly, we wanted to set a two-year price freeze for those who commit early.
“Of course, we also want to ensure that Cardiff City continues to grow and that new supporters find the love for their Football Club in the way that their parents and grandparents did before them. As such, we’ve established a more affordable junior ticket price for 2016/17 and have re-established the student ticket for those eligible.
“This is the first time we’ve had student ticketing since 2011/12, although you’d have to go back to the 2008/09 season – our final year at Ninian Park – to see the last time they were priced as low as £99.
“A number of improvements have been made over the course of this season to engage better with our fan base. I’m pleased to say that this is another step on that journey, with much more to come. In line with Cardiff City Foundation, we will continue to offer further access and opportunities to schools and local community groups, as has been the case for many years prior to this.
“I’ve been delighted with the response regarding our 2016/17 launch and look forward to us going on sale this coming St. David’s Day, March 1st. In the meantime, let’s look forward as one as we continue this season’s Play-Off push.”
