Four years... and counting!

Back in the 2012/13 season, Cardiff City Football Club held its very first ‘Club Goal of the Month’ competition.

Now, we’re celebrating the fourth birthday of the game-changing initiative, which has given players representing the Football Club at every level the chance to compete against their heroes to lift the Club Goal of the Month trophy.

The competition encompasses nine different levels of football, including the First Team, Development, Academy, Women’s, Disability, Futsal, Soccer Schools, YouBirds and Cardiff City Foundation’s Football Performance Centres.

As far as we know, Cardiff City Football Club remains the only side in the world to bring together each and every level of football at the Club in one inclusive competition.

WALL OF HONOUR



Upon the fourth anniversary of Club Goal of the Month, a new Wall of Honour has been installed this week at Cardiff City Stadium.

Fan Engagement Manager, Amy McNiven, led the new installation which has been given pride of place in the CCS tunnel. As the players line up for Cardiff City’s home matches, they will see the name of every winner of the competition, from 2012 up to the present day.

The Wall of Honour has complemented our previous Club Goal of the Month installation in the Family Stand and its original predecessor at the Cardiff City House of Sport – both of which have proudly displayed the names of our monthly winners.

PLAY YOUR PART!

Every month, nominated goals from each level are compiled in one video on Cardiff City Player HD and our official YouTube account. These are also broadcast around Cardiff City Stadium on match-days – from the big screens in the stadium bowl to our 179” RICOH HD projectors in each stand of our home ground.

At this point, you – the fans – are encouraged to get involved! City supporters can watch all of the goals before casting their vote and telling us on YouTube, Facebook or Twitter who they voted for. By voting, fans’ names are thrown into a hat to win a pair of hospitality tickets for a home game at CCS. It’s an effective social media concept that has garnered national praise (read below).
