RUSSELL PRAISES 'GREAT' CITY CHARACTER
Manager buoyed by another victory on the road
Russell Slade hailed his Bluebirds following their nine-man heroics at Griffin Park on Saturday.
City secured their third consecutive away victory at high-flying Brentford, Federico Macheda and Alex Revell with second half strikes.
But despite the Bluebirds’ second-half goal-scoring heroics, two dismissals late in the game made for a further talking point.
“I didn't think the game was going to explode into that in the second-half,” said the Gaffer after the game. “I don’t think the Referee had any choice but to send Kiko off for the double yellow, but with Kadeem, I think both players went for the ball and it wasn’t as malicious as perhaps one or two of them made out. We’ll have to have a look at it though and review it from there.
“Brentford had deserved their lead, they were the better side even if there were not a lot of opportunities for either side. But the important thing was we stayed in the game and got in the driving seat after an excellent goal from Revell.
“We showed great character at the end when it was like the Alamo with crosses raining in from every direction and there were bodies on the line. My heart was in my mouth and I've not seen anything like those last ten minutes and they could have quite easily snatched something.
“But that spirit is growing all the time and we are improving all the time and this win will do the group the world of good.

It's another win away and it will be nice to follow that up at home on Tuesday - but it won't be easy.”
