MOZZA: ATTITUDE DETERMINED VICTORY
Bluebirds defender praises squad spirit at Elland Road
Cardiff City defender Sean Morrison toasted the continuation of his side’s impressive away form after a strong performance saw them extend their successful run against Leeds United.
“We were talking about it after the game - we’re doing very well away from home at the moment" Mozza began.
"It was obviously a disappointing result for us on Monday after we’d been on a good run. I think 3-0 flattered Bolton in that one, but then we had to bounce back quickly. Leeds is always a hard place to come, and especially so when you have the problems with the tickets and the away following not being present. Hopefully we put a few smiles on our fans’ faces back home though.
“We scored from two set-pieces again, and that’s something we’ve been very good at throughout this season. After the disappointment of Monday, the boys were back in and we were going over what we needed to do in order to prepare for this game. We worked defensively, and it paid off today.
"I thought we looked solid in what were difficult conditions out there – the wind was strong, and you couldn’t really tell that from the side of the pitch. Going 1-0 up, and then to finally get that second goal through Gunnar [Aron Gunnarsson], was brilliant.
"I thought we had a fantastic attitude. We have another away game on Tuesday, and though Ipswich have a lot to play for still, we’re hoping we can come back with the three points with back-to-back wins.”
Morrison struck the opening goal of the game for the Bluebirds, adding another to what has been an impressive personal tally for the Club this season.
And though he was unable to share his goal celebrations with a legion of adoring Cardiff City fans at Elland Road, he was delighted to get them the three points.
“It was my sixth goal for Cardiff, and my seventh altogether this season,” he said. “That’s not been a bad return, but I’m just happy to get the win.
"If somebody else had scored, I wouldn’t have minded. It’s great to get a goal, but three points is always the main thing. Teams tend to rely on strikers and midfielders to score the goals, but it’s massively important for the defenders to chip in too. I think Bruno has three this season, so that’s almost ten goals between us, which is fantastic as it’s a big help to the team.
“It was strange when I scored; it just went completely quiet, which was weird. It was a shame that we didn’t have any fans here, but I’m sure they’ll be happy that we’re coming home with the three points. We just need to recuperate now and get our bodies ready for another long journey on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to the run-in.

“I read about our record against Leeds in the programme before the match, and that worried me a little, as they must be due a win sooner or later! It’s an incredible run though, and long may it continue.”
