KEN CHOO: FULLY COMMITTED
I would like to open today by thanking you all as we prepare for our final 2014/15 home fixture. From the Academy, the Vale training ground, the Community Foundation, Malaysia and all of us here at the stadium, I can assure you that your continued support is appreciated at your Club. On a personal level in my first season as CEO, I am proud to be associated with Cardiff City Football Club and always enjoy meeting with our passionate supporters.
Having seen first-hand the dedication and hard work that goes on behind the scenes every week, I very much hope that we can end the current campaign on a positive note, starting this afternoon against Blackpool. Not only to give you, our supporters, a fitting and deserved sign off to our home fixtures, a win today would be something the team can also take on the road to Nottingham next Saturday.
It’s true that our final two fixtures may be lacking the same excitement, potential and intensity as had been the case in recent seasons in the Welsh capital. But despite not pushing for honours this year, our collective goal remains to develop and progress, both on and off the pitch. I know that Russell, his coaching staff and the players remain fully committed to taking the maximum possible points on offer until the final whistle next weekend.
The current Championship season may be reaching its conclusion, but the hard work will continue here over the summer. Yes, we will be working to Financial Fair Play parameters and with a sensible level of sustainability in mind, but in saying that – and with the full and continued support of owner Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Chairman Mehmet Dalman - we will be doing all we can to shape the squad for greater success next season. Our aim is to add exciting and committed players to the talent already in place, building a squad that is more than capable of competing at the right end of the table.
We know we can’t achieve success without you – and to those who have already secured their 2015/16 Season Tickets, I would like to thank you for your ongoing loyalty to Cardiff City. The Club has worked to make Season Ticket pricing as competitive as possible and I hope to see many more of you make your commitment over the summer. The more numbers we have, the better the atmosphere and support for the team. It’s all linked.
We ready ourselves for the 2015/16 season in the knowledge that our traditional home colours and the prominent Bluebird crest have returned, which is a platform we can build on together. I know that it will take time and patience, but as CEO – and with the backing of our dedicated and hardworking staff at the Club - I look forward to the work and progress that is ahead. Enjoy the match, our Festival of Sport and make the most of the summer break. Thank you all once again for your support, from all of us at Cardiff City.
