Today, Cardiff City Football Club is encouraging all supporters to back #StayStrongForOws – a fundraising and awareness campaign for injured Cardiff Blues and Wales player, Owen Williams.Wales international Owen suffered a significant injury to his cervical vertebrae and spinal cord while playing for Cardiff Blues this summer in the World Club 10s in Singapore. Owen is currently at the Welsh Spinal Injuries and Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at Rookwood Hospital in Cardiff as he continues his long-term rehabilitation and recovery. He is now tolerating periods of time sitting up in a wheelchair, allowing him the chance to spend short periods of time outside the hospital. He is also starting to use the gym at the hospital for early upper limb rehabilitation.
It remains very early in his recovery, but support for the #StayStrongForOws campaign worldwide has been a huge inspiration for Owen, his family and friends. This week, the Bluebirds and Blues squads have united after training for fund-raising PR activities, building towards today’s day of action for Owen in line with the arrival of Norwich City.

‘AN INSPIRATION’
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, City Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær said: "We have a great relationship with the Cardiff Blues. They are an inspiration to us at this difficult time, and what happened to Owen has brought us even closer together.
"We see each other every day, we talk about things every day – there’s a great camaraderie. Today’s day of action is the least we could do in support of Owen and his recovery.”
The #StayStrongForOws campaign will continue throughout this season and beyond – encouraging all sports fans to united and show their support. Cardiff Blues has joined forces with the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust to ensure they can raise valuable funds to help and support Owen in the long-term as he continues his recovery from such a serious injury.
As our neighbours, friends and colleagues, they have Cardiff City Football Club’s full support and backing.
