KEY OPPOSITION PLAYER: Jay Spearing
Captain and 25-year-old swashbuckling midfielder Spearing initially joined the club on loan from Liverpool for the 2012/13 season. Despite Wanderers being relegated from the top flight, Spearing made a real impression at the Macron Stadium throughout his loan spell and was rewarded with the Player of the Year award. He permanently signed for the club in summer 2013, rejecting the advances of Blackburn Rovers in the process and has become a crucial part of the Bolton starting line-up, offering nothing less than 100% every game.
ONE TO WATCH: Max Clayton
Promising forward and England U19 international, Clayton could have ended up with a number of clubs after a summer of trials. Max came through the esteemed Academy setup at Crewe Alexandra, and decided to move on from his first club in the summer after three years of playing first team football at Gresty Road. Still only 20-years-old, the young striker will be hoping to break into the starting eleven at Bolton in the coming months and establish himself as a Championship quality centre forward.
