GOOD LUCK CLEV - BLUEBIRDS BACK NATHAN
Nathan gears up for huge Bellew clash in Liverpool
This Saturday evening, Liverpool’s Echo Arena will host one of the most hotly anticipated rematches in modern day boxing as Nathan Cleverly steps out to face Tony Bellew in the latter’s back yard.
It’s a repeat of the 2011 showdown between the two fighters, Caerphilly-born Nathan successfully defending his WBO Light Heavyweight Title that day by virtue of a points decision at the same venue that awaits Saturday night’s bout.
This time, at Cruiserweight, the stakes have been raised to a whole new level with a whirlwind of publicity surrounding a clash that has become hugely anticipated. A host of Cardiff City supporters will be making the trip to Merseyside to support Nathan in one of his biggest fights to date.
A Cardiff City supporter and friend of the Football Club, Nathan will step out in Liverpool with the very best wishes of Bluebirds fans, players and staff.
Speaking to Cardiff City Player, Assistant Manager Scott Young said: “This is a big weekend for Welsh sport and our plan was to kick things off with victory over Reading on Friday evening which we did.
"We’ll all be backing Clev now come Saturday night when he heads to Liverpool.”
Avid boxing fantastic Craig Noone added: “
I don’t know Bellew personally despite him being from Liverpool, whereas I know Nathan well!
"I want the best man to win obviously, but my prediction is that Clev will win this one. It should be a great fight though, whatever happens.”
