A round-up of Cardiff City Players who spent part of the season out on loan

Twelve Cardiff City players have been out on loan during the course of the season, with all but one now returned to Cardiff City Stadium ahead of the upcoming 2014-15 SkyBet Championship season.

Nicky Maynard narrowly missed out on a Wembley appearance with Wigan Athletic whom he joined in mid-January. Maynard made ten appearances for the Latics since joining them and came on as a 76th minute substitute in their Championship Play-Off semi-final first-leg 0-0 draw against Queen’s Park Rangers last Friday.  He has scored four goals for Uwe Rosler’s side to date and but did not feature in the Latics' second-leg extra-time defeat to QPR on Monday night.

Joe Mason arrived back at Cardiff City Stadium from Bolton Wanderers in mid-April, having enjoyed two spells at the Reebok Stadium this season. He made eight appearances, scoring one goal and an initial spell before returning to South Wales at the start of January, returning to Bolton on February 20th.

Mason found a second spell in the north west far more rewarding as he went on to make eight appearances, scoring five times. Kevin McNaughton also enjoyed a loan period at the Reebok Stadium with a three-month loan deal ending in late-December. He made thirteen appearances in total and scored in the 1-1 home draw against Charlton just before Christmas.

Elsewhere, two players spent time at promoted Brentford during the season. Kadeem Harris scored on his debut when he came on as substitute in the 1-1 home draw with Colchester in October, making a total of eleven appearances before returning to the Bluebirds just before Christmas. Ben Nugent started the season with Brentford, scoring twice in five appearances up to early-December, before joining League One Peterborough United in mid-February, making eleven appearances for the Posh.

John Brayford went to Sheffield United in late-January and was a regular for the Blades under Nigel Clough. The right-back scored twice, with one of his goals coming in the F.A. Cup Sixth Round 2-0 home win against Charlton going on to play at Wembley in their 3-5 semi-final defeat against Hull City. Simon Lappin also spent time at Bramall Lane this season having joined them on-loan in early-October featuring in twelve League and Cup matches in total.

20-year-old Joe Ralls enjoyed a regular stint of Championship football this season with Yeovil Town having joined the Glovers on a season-long loan deal last August. Making 38 appearances in all competitions, Ralls scored three goals although the season unfortunately ended in relegation for Yeovil as they were relegated from the Championship.

Simon Moore joined Bristol City at the end of January and had a six-match run in League One. He returned from injury for the final five games of the season at Ashton Gate, conceding just three goals in that spell as Bristol City climbed to safety.

There were two loan-spells for Deji Oshilaja during the season. The City Development Captain spent time at Newport County towards the back end of last year, making twelve League and Cup appearances before returning to Cardiff City Stadium. Deji then joined SkyBet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in February, making two Championship appearances.

Filip Kiss has enjoyed a successful loan-spell with Scottish Premier League side Ross County. He scored four times in his opening two matches, and made a total of fourteen League appearances which brought him six goals.

Finally Etien Velikonja went to Portuguese club Rio Ave at the start of February. He went on to make five first-team appearances for them, scoring once.
