Hudson set for an exciting time in the Bluebirds camp

Club Captain Mark Hudson returned to the Cardiff City side for last Saturday’s victorious FA Cup 3rd Round tie at St. James’ Park.

It was the first time that a Cardiff City side had won at Newcastle United for 51 years – the last success on Tyneside coming in a 4-0 victory back in 1963.

Speaking earlier this week in reference to the Cup victory and the bright future he predicts for the Premier League Bluebirds, Huds said: “Obviously it wasgood to be involved in the game and getting a full ninety minutes under my belt.

“With the win it worked out perfectly really for the manager, myself and for the team. We're through to the next round and coming from 1-0 down as well, it shows a lot of character.

“It's been a while since I've played competitive football so it was great to be involved from the start and the win gives you confidence to crack on.”

Victory in the North East has paved the way for a fourth round tie at Bolton Wanderers later in January, the first time the Bluebirds have reached that stage of the competition since 2010.

And the Skipper feels that such successes on the field – married with a focus off it – will lead to further joy for the Bluebirds in 2014.

We've only had Friday and Monday mornings with the manager so we've not been through much training just yet,” said Huds. “This is an exciting time as is always the case and something you've got to look forward to. It's going to be an interesting next few weeks and we're looking forward to it.

“We've got another half of the season to go and we’re all going to be working as hard as we can to get the club in the right position.”

"I'm looking forward to being involved in as many games as I can towards the end of the season and help the team move up the league and finish as high as we can to remain in the Premier League.”
