1992-93 promotion winning side reunite at CCS

Stars of Cardiff City Football Club’s 1992-93 promotion squad reunited at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday evening to mark the 20th anniversary of the Bluebirds’ elevation from the old Third Division.

The Cardiff City Supporters Trust reunion was held in the Ricoh Suite at Cardiff City Stadium, as the past City heroes enjoyed reminiscing about the Bluebirds’ former glory days and sharing some of the camaraderie that saw them to promotion two decades ago with those present.

City heroes Jason Perry, Paul Ramsey, Roger Gibbins, Nathan Blake, Cohen Griffith, Paul Millar, Nicky Richardson. Derek Brazil, Cohen Griffith, Damon Searle, Carl Dale and former Assistant Manager and Physio Jimmy Goodfellow, were in attendance in a night compared by BBC Wales’ Rob Phillips.

Speaking after the event, Damon Searle part of the side that saw City to promotion that season and now works in the commercial department at Cardiff City Stadium, said: “It was a fantastic evening for the Cardiff City Supporters Trust to arrange and it was great to see some of the boys again.

“It was like we’d never been apart really. The camaraderie amongst all the boys was there for all to see and I think it shows what a tight unit we were when we gained promotion from the third division all those years ago.

“It was also great to see such a good turn out on the night to share their memories with us. I’d like to thank all involved that helped make this night become such a success.”

The Cardiff City Supporters Trust’s John Isaacson said: “I’d like to pass on the Trust’s thanks to all the players for making Thursday night such a great success.

“It was very enjoyable and it was great to see the camaraderie amongst all the players involved. Thanks to Damon in helping get such a good turnout from the former players on the night.”
