City's Tuesday night goal hero Rudy Gestede has been called up to the Benin international squad for their World Cup Qualifier with Algeria on March 26th.
The French-born striker - who holds three passports (France, Benin & USA) - represented France at Under 19 level between 2006-2008.
But Rudy has now committed to playing for the West African country of his family's origin and will fly out to link up with Les Écureuils (The Squirrels) following the Bluebirds' fixture at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Speaking of the call up, Rudy said: “It’s been a good week for me personally.
"I will meet up with the Benin squad to play Algeria in a World Cup Qualification game next week having played against Leicester on Tuesday and scored. Hopefully this run can keep going for Club and Country."
