TESTING TIMES FOR INJURED ARON
Cardiff City’s Aron Gunnarsson’s summer has been hit with frustration following a shoulder injury while on International duty.
The situation is now being assessed by medical staff, with the view to giving Aron the best chance of a quick recovery ahead of the 2013/14 Premier League campaign.
Cardiff City Head of Performance Richard Collinge explained, “Aron is currently undergoing a series of tests and investigations to determine the extent of his shoulder injury, from which we will be able to implement a management and recovery schedule. Any injury is frustrating for a player, but we will give Aron the best possible support to enable a swift return to action.”
Iceland head coach Lars Lagerback had previously spoken in the wake of the 4-2 loss against Slovenia, citing Gunnarsson’s 52nd minute painful withdrawal as a contributing factor, saying, “He had an X-ray in hospital which should reveal how serious the injury is.
“For us, it had a big impact on the course of the game. We were level at 2-2 before our captain went off and were unlucky that Aron injured himself, because the balance of the game changed when he went off. Hopefully Aron will recover soon as he will go on holiday now and has a few weeks to recover before the Premier League season starts.”
