BEES NICK WIN AS CITY SLIP UP

Club News

An early goal was enough for Brentford U18 to defeat City’s U18 side at Jersey Road training ground on January 26th.

In a frantic opening five minutes both sides had their opportunities to score the first goal - The Bees missing their first opportunity when Montell Moore couldn’t get beyond Brad Wickham and fire home. At the other end Gethyn Hill hit the wrong side of the post for City from twelve yards out.

Almost immediately and City were made to pay as Moore beat Curtis Watkins to the loose ball and the Bees forward fired his side into the lead.

City were denied what looked like a clear cut penalty after striker Hill knocked the ball around Bees keeper Bransgrove before appearing to be caught by the goalie. Referee Michael Carmichael turning down the Cardiff pleas for a penalty kick.

Dane Griffiths will have been disappointed not to level the game for the away side after getting in behind the Bees defence; the forward's strike towards goal was blocked by keeper Bransgrove who had a fine game in denying Cardiff on more than one occasion.

While City will be disappointed not to build on their away form after a fine win at Barnet, they will take heart in learning from the experience.
