City under-18s enjoy derby victory
A fantastic team performance saw City’s U18 side storm to a 6-1 win over Swansea City at Fairfield Training Ground on Saturday morning. The young Bluebirds took an early lead when Jamie Veale curled home a fantastic effort from the edge of the area following a fine lay off from Will Taylor.
Alex Samuel slotted home an instant easier after a rare defensive slip in the away defence, but Kevin Nicholson’s side retook the lead when midfield dynamo Tom Burridge placed home from the penalty spot after the break.
Cardiff took a two goal advantage into the break when Abdi Noor composedly slotted past the Swansea keeper, Taylor providing an exquisite chipped assist as the away side took full control of the tie.
City came out of the blocks for the second period in determined fashion, and bagged a fourth goal on fifty minutes. Pacey winger Tom Pearson capped a fantastic performance with a well-deserved goal smashing home a rebounded Noor shot.
The away team added a fifth goal on sixty two minutes with centre half Tom James risking injury by over stretching to poke home Burridge’s long range free kick. Arguably the goal of the match came with just four minutes remaining, full-back David Tutonda controlling the ball on the edge of the penalty area before using his pace to beat three Swansea defenders and rifling home a right footed drive to the delight of his team mates and coaches.
