Rudy Gestede spoke to press after Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Billy Davies’ Nottingham Forest, happy with his two goals but even happier with three crucial points for Cardiff City.
“It was my first double for the club and it was a good win this afternoon, but we have a big game on Tuesday night," said the striker. "It will be a good game against Charlton, they beat us in the autumn so we will need to be focused.”
The Benin international warned that there would be no promotion party just yet in the City camp though, stating: “We hope we do get promoted, but we know anything can happen in football so it is not done yet.”
“It has been a long season so we will not stop now. We have four games to go and if we can go out there and win the four games we will go and do that. Yes we need just one point for promotion, but if we get that it would be good to go up as Champions. If we can get promoted on Tuesday we will be happy to do it.
“We are six points ahead of Hull. I think we can win the league but we have to remain focused and keep working hard on the pitch. I am sure the Gaffer will do all he can to keep the team strong and fit right up to the end of the season.
“Last season we got to the League Cup final and this year we are playing for promotion. It has been two brilliant years for me and I am very happy to be playing for Cardiff City.”
