CONWAY? YES WAY!
Craig Conway was rightly in high spirits on Sunday evening in Cardiff, due to his eightieth minute winner securing top spot for his team and also being the goal to smash the history books at the club.
“Everybody is really happy; I think we played some good stuff,” he said after City made it ten out of ten home wins on the bounce. “It was frustrating at times, as obviously they set up their stall and they were pretty defensive. We needed to break that down and I thought we kept going - we showed great patience and it was brilliant to get the win in the end and I think it is a massive three points for us.
“You have got to keep confident and keep getting on the ball, I thought we switched it well and we were creating chances. Luckily one went in at the end.
“Teams have gone ten games unbeaten, but to win ten in a row at home is brilliant and it keeps us at the top. We always say that we want to keep a clean sheet and make our home a fortress and we’ve done that. It’s a hard place for teams to come and if we just keep picking up points at home and we get a few away I am sure we will be up there.
“I think the manager has said, ‘it doesn’t matter how you win sometimes as long as you keep picking up the results’ Sometimes the one nil games are better than the four or five nil games because you have got to put a lot of work into them. It was great to get the three points today.
“Wednesday were holding up well and they were keeping their shape, but we broke them down in the end and we probably could have scored another couple. I think when Rudy’s header, when he missed that we could have been thinking it wasn’t going to be our day. We kept plugging away and luckily we got the goal.
“We’ve got a squad of players and have individuals who can score a goal. If we keep playing well and as long as we get a clean sheet at the back, which we have done really well at home we have always got players who can get that goal going forward.”
